Hey Raad! Since starting 6 Things Thursday, have you seen any benefits to your company? How many subscribers do you have? What’s your typical open rate and reply rate?
6 Things started as a side project when I came to the realization that I don’t open my own company newsletters, so I decided to something something more useful and little different.
As a by product of that I now have a direct line of communication (just hit reply) with all our customers, investors, lawyers, and free users.
So the best part is I get feedback right away every week from people who loved something we did for them or hate something (a product bug or late reply to a support request). I forward it to the right person on our team and be get better from it.
Our entire email list has around 50k subscribers, but I only imported around 14% of that (the most engaged readers) when I moved this over to sub stack (where we are now).
For free subscribers I’m seeing around 45-50% open rates.
For paid subscribers it’s between 80-90% open rates.
Currently not tracking reply rate, but I get a handful every week.
Hey Raad! Trying this out here, love the AMA, going deep right off the bat: Does gratefulness equal contentment? Or put another way, does being grateful also imply and/or constitute an automatic state of contentment?
Gratefulness can be a powerful way to create space in your mind. But if you have to go out of your way to remind yourself to be grateful about something, I will not lead to contentment. It will be temporary and almost artificial in nature because you’re forcing it to come out. That’s why stopped the whole think of 3 things you’re grateful for in the morning and gratitude journals -- they don't work.
If you are sincere with yourself and gratitude naturally arises from that level of sincerity, contentment or stillness is inevitable. Even if you sincerely don’t feel any gratitude, that truth will bring you more peace than just blindly following a rule that you should be more “grateful” to be a “good” person.
Heya Raad, I’m currently working as an apprentice for HVAC in order to learn a trade. I’d like to find a job/career that suits my higher intellect and good work ethic a bit more. I’ve toured with the idea of taking time off to pursue that passion because I hardly have time to write and read after work for sake of being tired.
What is your perspective on pursuing self exploration and balancing that with being able to support myself.

Hey Zach! I'll dive right in:

(accidentally hit the post button)
Gratitude is natural and not something that can be practiced. It’s a direct consequence of losing yourself in the moment.
